Birthday and Lava Hot Springs

I had a great birthday this year. One more year until the big 3-0...Scary!! I forgot that Nikosha had put her flower in my hair until I saw the pictures. I look kind of stylish...don't tell anyone. he-he! Nikosha made this cake for me and Nate decorated it. Didn't they do a great job? We taught my 81-year old grandpa to play the Wii. He had a lot of fun, but didn't get a very long turn as you can see most of his great grandkids waiting their turn. We took a little family day trip last week to Lava Hot Springs because we'd never been there before. It's about 1 1/2 hours away. We had a great time! There were about 6 different pools all different shapes, sizes, and depths, but all of them were HOT! It was so relaxing, though! Isn't the view awesome?!! Poor Kyler has too many moms. ha-ha!

Cute School Work

Nikosha's Nikosha's Katelyn's Katelyn's I wanted to get rid of some of my girls' school work, but couldn't bear to just throw it away, so I decided to put it on my blog to save it. Some day I hope to make a book out of my blog posts. I've heard of people doing that before. Does anyone know what a good place is to do that and how much it's going to cost me? And do you know if that picture of Nikosha's papers that doesn't show up very good will show up better on the book?

Nikosha's glasses

I had one of those "I'm such a bad mom" moments when we took Nikosha to the eye doctor and found out she couldn't see hardly anything. She's in 3rd grade!! You think I would have noticed something before. So I now have two of my four kids in glasses. I have a really hard time being empathetic because I've never had to wear glasses. But I think they both look super-cute in their glasses so that's a huge plus. Katelyn has a lazy eye, so she sees totally fine out of her right eye, but refuses to see out of her left. So she's supposed to wear a patch for an hour everyday to try to strengthen that weak eye. At first she thought it was fun to pretend she was a pirate, but now I have to use some bribing to get her to wear it.

Boys, Bumps, & Bruises

I don't think any of my girls ever had as many bumps and bruises as Kyler does. He's constantly konking his head. At first it used to scare me (and usually still does when it happens), but I'm starting to see more and more that's just how boys are. I LOVE having a boy, though! I think people who have a couple children of one sex and then get one of the other sex, they really notice a difference and really appreciate it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my girls, but I really appreciate the easy-going personality of my boy.

Kyler's a Famous Angel

Kyler was an angel model for our favorite photographer (who Nate's mom happens to work for) and she posted some of his "model" pictures on her blog. You'll have to go check it out: Hymas Image In case you can't tell, he's the only boy on the page. ha-ha!

Cheerleading and Fun at Home

Our girls were cheerleaders again this year for the High school fundraiser. (Them and 80 other little cheerleaders.) They loved to get their face painted and get their hair all done cute for the performance, but they didn't have that much fun practicing. It was for an hour and a half for three nights in a row. Kenzi's attention span isn't nearly that long and Katelyn saw Kenzi having fun messing around so she kind of ran wild too, but Nikosha had a lot of fun being a cheerleader. They even did some stunts and lifts with her age. I could see her being a cheerleader some day. After we explained to Katelyn that she couldn't run around and she needed to pay attention, she worked very hard and learned a lot. Today the girls decided they wanted their faces painted. So we got out the craft paint and put a couple dribbles on paper plates and painted their faces. After that it turned into a "craft project" that kept my kids entertained for over an hour. All you need is some paint, a paper plate, and paint brushes (q-tips worked just fine too). And they had a blast with it, so they made sure I took all of their pictures with their plates they decorated.

This is what our family did for fun on Saturday night. In case you thought this was a real sledding picture, it's not. ha-ha! We just played on Jib-jab and added some heads to a funny picture they had. My kids love it!
